Today's objective:

• Students will be able to identify the five mass extinctions, what caused each and other facts about eachextinction.

Today we will:

• Complete a gallery walk about the 5 mass extinctions.  Each group will put their poster on their table then the class will walk around, reading about the extinctions and filling out the questions in google classroom.

• We will go over the directions for the mass extinction project students will be working on this week.

• Take the science practices pretest
• Begin a new Writing Like a Scientist article.  Students will read the article and answer the first four questions.  (Do NOT do the essay, that we will do next week)

Today we will:

• Complete Part 3 of Whales:Walking in the Past
• If you have completed all 3 parts of the Whale activity turn it in and watch the edpuzzle - Morphed.  To get to edpuzzle go to edpuzzle.com and sign in as a new student through google.  Pick my science class and it will be there for you to watch.  You DO NOT need to complete this for homework.

• Everyone should have part 1 completed including the questions in part 1
• Today you will work on part 2 - don't forget to highlight in the article where you find the answers and use complete sentences to answer all questions (in your own words).

• Students will show their knowledge on the Law of Superposition and Rock Layers

Today we will:

• Review with Kahoot
• Make sure the Correlating Rock Layers using index Fossils worksheet is completed and turned in.
• Make sure the Matching Rock Layers Lab is turned in.
• Work on the Conclusion Questions in Google classroom.
• Last 15-20 minutes of class we will take our quiz on the Law of Superposition and Dating Rock Layers.

Today we will:

• Watch Bill Nye Fossils (we really want to concentrate on how fossils form and how scientists can learn so much information from them)
• Complete the research and drawings from the Fossil Research Project
• Take our fossil drawings and put them on our class timeline so we can see how organisms have developed over time.

• Begin work on your fossil research project.  I will give each of you a fossil to research.  Today you will answer the questions on your document in google classroom and draw your fossil.  Tomorrow we will put the fossils on the geological timeline.
